THE CHOIR - follow us on facebook

Cantóirí is an exciting Dublin choir with an international membership. Our repertoire spans the centuries, from the Renaissance to the 20th Century. Our particular speciality is folk music from all over the globe. This includes songs from Europe, Latin America and the Far East.

Cantóirí sings each song in the original language. We are lucky as we can draw on the language skills of choir members from countries such as Finland, Poland, Italy, France, Serbia, Germany, England, Austria and Denmark.

Our Musical Director is Ben Barnes.

Ben Barnes has been the Musical Director for Cantoiri since 2006. He has been singing professionally since 1989 and following a BA(Hons) in Music from Trinity College University, he embarked on his musical career singing, conducting and teaching.  He has been a member of numerous choirs in Dublin including the Mornington Singers and Gaudete, as well as singing in St Patrick’s Cathedral  choir where he has also been Librarian since 1995. He currently also teaches piano and recorder privately and at St Patrick’s Schools.

The document " Guidelines for Cantóirí 2011 " (pdf) provides an overview of the focus and administration of the choir.

We rehearse every Monday from 19:15 to 21:30 in Áras Treasa, Coppinger Row, Dublin 2. See the map (pdf)
