20th November 2003
Comments from the Kilcoole Choral Festival are reproduced here :
• Sibelius : Drommarna
Suitably dark in effect, and the overall result was one of understatement. The chromatic lines proved problematic here and there, but the choir recovered for the F minor chord at the end. A different choice and one tackled with a measure of success here.
• Farmer : Fair Phyllis I saw
A positively lusty interpretation! The open, full sound inspired confidence. Watch upbeat entries. The first note was sometimes swallowed up by the surrounding lines. The word "Oh" at the last page begs for an unsubtle swelling and you could point the word "kissing" with a kick at the first letter. The programme indicated music-making of high standard here.

12th November 2003
